Thankful Thursday’s

Reading and Wrting for 3-6 Year Olds

I am so thankful that God has allowed me to homechool my children. But at the same time He also knows my fiancial limitations. He provides me the ability to the access all of the nessesary curriculum I need completely free. Last year I searched through all of the free curriculum that I could find and now have a full curriculum for my children from pre-k through 12th grade. And just in case you’re wondering “yes it meets academic standards”. This is my reading and writing program for my 3-6 year olds.

I use starfall for my 3-6 year old. I start my three year old with the animated stories and online alphabet activities. I supplement these activities with Donna Young’s printing readiness sheets. These sheets help my beginning writer to form the strokes for the letters of the alphabet.

My solution to keeping him busy during crunch time is the computer. Sites I put him on often is BBC kids and PBS kids.

For my 4, 5 or 6 year old I use levels two through four form starfall. That’s their online work. Then I simply print age appropriate sheets here. This is what I use to teach beginning phonics, letter recognition, letter formation and reading.

We love starfall! Definitely a great resource. Thanks for the Donna Young link. We use Handwriting Without Tears and those worksheets are a great complement.
