Food Finds

Sunday evening while my hubby and I were at the grocery store I found what I hoped to be great deal on Soy Sauce. And since I knew that I needed 3 bottles for my pantry stash I decided to pick them up. The brand on sale was not the brand that I normally use which is LaChoy, but for .19 cents a bottle it might be worth a try. There were only three bottles so I bought all three for .71 cents. They were originally $2.99 each.

I had simmered my chicken to make broth on Saturday night, but when I went to remove the chicken I decided to peel back the skin and guess what I found…MEAT. You would have thought I hit the jackpot. So I pulled out a tupperware and started separating the meat from the bone. I ended up with about a 1/2 to 2/3 pounds of dark meat chicken.

Monday for lunch was supposed to be (boxed) Mac & Cheese, but why have processed foods when we can try something new. So that soy sauce I bought had a recipe on it for Angostura Garlic Chicken w/Soy, and I had all of the ingredients except olive oil and parsley. So I followed the recipe using the de boned chicken and some of my homemade stock instead of water. Add to that a pot of white rice and your in business. It was so savory and delicious.

So, the verdict is in for Angostura Soy Sauce and we have a winner and so is the recipe Angostura Garlic Chicken w/Soy. I’m sure you could pull this off with your favorite soy sauce. For more about the product click the following link

Note: This soy sauce has a different flavor than LaChoy so I’m not sure if I will be using this for my fried rice. The verdict is still out on that but I will let you guys know.
