It’s 10 PM. Do You Know Where Your Children Are?

Before you begin reading understand that, this is my blog, and my opinion. If you disagree that is fine. You can do what you choose with your children and I will do what I choose with mine.

In no way do I condone police brutally or racial profiling. Nor do I condone minors being out after midnight, especially unaccompanied by an adult. My husband has a saying that goes “Nothing good happens after dark.” This is a saying that we embed in our children and apply to ourselves as well.

There was a time when I would go to Walmart at night or grocery shopping around 8 p.m., but now if it is dark I do not leave the house unless absolutely necessary. I’ve made this change so that I can be an example to my children. I do not and will not allow my children to hang out after dark unsupervised by adults and especially after midnight.

I would like to know what the child in this video was doing out after midnight. The police officer, if shown to have used excessive force, should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but in addition, this child and her parents should be held responsible for her not abiding by the city curfew.

There is no curfew in my state, but I don’t need the state to tell me that my child shouldn’t be out after a certain hour. It is my responsibility to self govern. In doing that I am obligated to protect my children. Any parent who allows their children to hang out after dark is not protecting the best interest of that child.
