Just What I Had in Mind

I have been trying to convince my husband to visit New York during the summer season ever since I met him. He usually replies “What is there to do in New York during the summer?”

Now I must admit that I do understand his rational. Over the years he has been inundated with beautiful snowy white Rockefeller Center images of Christmas. Then there’s the dropping of the ball in the infamous Times Square. I mean ‘what’s not to like about Christmas in the city?’

But, growing up in New York I have spent some of my most memorable summers their. The city comes alive during the summer with concerts, and ferry rides in the Hudson River. Walks in Central Park and not to mention the acres of animals to see at the Bronx Zoo. There are tons of amusement parks and beaches.

The city is minutes away from Rye Play Land, Coney Island and Morey’s Piers, one of New Jersey water parks. Once you spend a summer in New York you’ll never be the same.

We normally stay in Elizabeth, New Jersey when we vacation and could easily enjoy a family beach vacation at the Jersey pier. I’ve heard that “Morey’s Piers is a great place for a family vacation”, and they offer great deals as well.

Deal #1~ TUES “DAY” TIME SPECIAL – $20 per person
Our best deal on All-You-Can-Ride wristbands! Tuesdays, July 1st – August 26th from 12:30pm until 6:00pm. Waterpark admission is not included in this package. Adventure Pier opens at 4:00pm.

Deal #2~THIRTY DOLLAR THURSDAYS – $30 per person

There’s also a piñata and other games!

These are just a few ideas that I have in mind. I always have some frugal and free activities planned as well. Now is a great time to begin planning a vacation for next year. It provides plenty of time to set a budget and begin saving for the trip.

Have you ever been to New York or New Jersey on vacation? If so, I would love to hear about your experience?

Do you know that I spent the first 18 years of my life living in NY state and never once made it to NYC? People are often fascinated by that. A lot of people also think that ALL of NY state is like NYC and are amazed that upstate has beautiful rural areas with rolling hills, quiet streams and picturesque farms.

One of these days maybe I’ll make it to NYC. I’d like to visit all the usual touristy places so I can tell my friends that an old New Yorker like me finally made it there.
