Planning ahead really makes a big difference in the way that ordinary situation affect our lives. For instance, this morning I awoke late (7:08 am). We needed to leave the house no later than 7:25am not to be late. I still had to shower, grab something to wear, get dressed, put on make-up, comb my hair, brush my teeth and hope the kids didn’t need my help this morning.
I knew that I had to cut this list big time if the children were going to make it to school in time. So the shower was immediately cut since I shower every evening. The next thing to go was brushing my teeth. I wasn’t getting out of the car since it was so rainy and I could brush when I returned home.
That left grab something to wear, get dressed, put on make-up, comb my hair, and hope the kids didn’t need my help this morning. Well the kids did need help. I had to help my 6 year old narrow down her morning schedule . She had overslept too.
We all made it out of the house by 7:25am.
How did we do it?
1.We streamlined our morning routines and stuck with just the bare bone tasks.
2.I have a pre-planned 1 minute make-up application that you can copy from step 3,4 & 5 of this post.
3. I shower before bed, just in case.
5. Jackets, backpacks and shoes are by the front door.
6. My hair is styled simply so that it is easy to manage on short notice.
One area that I will improve on next week will be picking out my clothes for the week, as well. My husband is still asleep when I leave, and trying to pick out clothes by the dime bathroom light shining into the bedroom while half awake is not something I like doing.
I pray that all of you who visited my blog today have a great week.
