This is one of the quickest freezer staples for busy families. Shredded chicken can be used as a base for so many dishes. It can be used for Shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches, Nachos, Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas or Chicken casseroles.

You’ll Need:
2 or more lbs. of chicken
your favorite basic seasonings
1 c. water for every three lbs.
Crock pot
Rinse chicken and place inside crockpot and season.

Pour water over chicken and mix until chicken is coated with seasoning.Cook on high 4-6 hours until chicken pulls apart easily with a fork. Next, strain juices. The juices can be used as a broth or base for chicken gravy. Juices can also be cooled and poured into a an ice tray and frozen for future use. Freeze and save in a Ziploc bag. Finally shred the chicken.

At this point you can divide the chicken into dinner sized portions. You can prepare meals according to meal ideas. For instance, for BBQ chicken, just add bbq sauce. For Cream of Mushroom chicken add a can of Cream of Mushroom and for Mexican meals, add taco or enchilada seasoning. Finally, store flat in a freezer bag. The image below is plain shredded chicken.
