That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands…Titus 2:4
It’s February and in America, February represents the month of LOVE…which got me to thinking about what more can I do to show my husband that I love him.
Don’t get me wrong…it’s not as though he doesn’t already know it, but my husband and I have made an unspoken commitment to out-do one another with love.
It’s almost like a ” I can love you more than you can love me” competition where we’re both winners.
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it… Song of Songs 8:7
Our unspoken competition has become a sort of tool that has helped us grow in our faith and our marriage. For us loving one another has less to do with making the other person feel good and more to do with sacrificing what makes us feel good for the sake of the other.
Does that makes sense…?
Here’s what I mean…9 times out of 10, the things that reassures my husband of my love for him is the very thing that requires me to either do something that does not come naturally to me or something that I just don’t particularly enjoy doing.
For example, something I don’t like doing is watching football. I watch it with him from time to time and have even learned more about it, but I have yet to become a fan of it.
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head…. Esther 2:17
An example of something that doesn’t come naturally would be working out. I think I already look great. I am not a huge fan of working out, but I go because the look on my husbands face when he notices the definition in my arms and legs is priceless.
All this month I will challenge myself to do even more to assure my wonderful husband that he is loved. If you need an idea of where to start Frumpy to Fab would be a great challenge for you. Husbands truly are moved by what they see so by challenging yourself to get prettied up for him each day is a fastest way to get his attention.
I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me. Song of Songs 7:10
