Sure you can!
I have been taking surveys for three years and I started as a means to jump start my Emergency Fund. I haven’t gotten rich taking surveys but I certainly have been made a huge impact on the balance of our Emergency Fund. Taking surveys can produce an additional income and keep you from being dependent upon your primary source/s of income.
It’s easy to think “Hey I’ll sign up with XYZ survey company and make some money”, but the truth is it’s more to it than that. In order to be successful you will need to sign up with as many legitimate survey sites as you can find. This is the only way to make a significant amount of money. After signing up for the survey site, learn about the sites referral program which is another way to earn money using survey sites. You can earn points or rewards for everyone who joins as a result of your referral link or email.
I have compiled a great list of legitimate survey sites that I’ve use which you can view here. The key to making money taking surveys is to treat it like a business. In other words…
- Set a time frame where you will sit down and complete surveys. Keep records of payouts because you will need to report your earnings.
- Set up a separate email account just for receiving surveys.
- Register with s many legitimate sites as possible. The more sites you register with the more survey invitations you’ll receive.
- Learn to filter through surveys. Not every survey has a cash or point reward. Some survey reward you an entry into a sweepstakes. Learn to decipher between the reward offers if not you will burn out wasting time.
Survey payout vary for company to company. Some pay a set amount while others pay based on the length and topic of the survey. I have taken surveys that have paid .10¢ and ones that have paid $75. Before you begin survey you re usually told what the reward amount will be. In addition, some survey sites pay out immediately in cash or check such as PineCone Research, while others award points which can be redeemed for cash once you reach a certain balance. Examples of those are Opinion Outpost.
With time you will be able to determine which types of surveys are worth your time and effort. So is you are looking to make extra money in addition to your primary income or earn money while at home, surveys are a valuable resource to help you achieve that goal.
