Moms Making Personal Fitness a Priority

Some of you already know that I’ve been doing the Beach Body P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program and so far I feel amazing. My daily workout partner is my husband, but I have been getting an amazing amount of encouragement from my friend and fellow blogger Heather. Today she is my guest and is sharing what has and continues to motivate her on her workout journey. Her family!!

Earlier this year, I decided to make some changes for my health. I cut back on soda. I cut back on snacking. And, this month I took an even bigger step – I applied to be the next Mamavation Mom. Mamavation is a weight loss support system created by Bookie Boo.

Next week, two moms will be chosen to lead the way on a fitness journey as they spend 8 weeks in a virtual bootcamp – with the tools, knowledge and support they need to be successful. I’ve made the final round (I could use your vote!), and I’m so excited to make these changes in my lifestyle. Not just for me, but for my whole family.

I have spent my girls’ entire lives teaching healthy habits – cooking nutritious meals, finding healthy snacks and trying to keep them active. But, it wasn’t working. And, is it any wonder when I eat my meals sans veggies, snack on chips & chocolate and plop my butt on the couch all day with a soda in hand?
They’re watching every move we make – and if we want them to learn healthy habits, we have to model healthy habits. It’s time to practice what I’m preaching. For the last several weeks, I’ve been working out daily, eating my veggies and eliminated soda. The change in my girls has been amazing to watch.

My teen eats her veggies at night. My middle daughter does jumping jacks with me every day and recently added “be healthier” to her 13×13 list. And, my youngest talks about being healthy all the time. Just this morning, she was sorting her kitchen toys by healthy food & not healthy food!
I’m even noticing a change in the hubby. He wanted to support me, so he eliminated soda at home and started doing the same workouts I was assigned from work on his breaks. We’re both losing weight, building muscles and fitting into long lost favorites from the back of our closet!

I never asked for anything more than encouragement for my own goals, but watching me make major lifestyle changes has rubbed off on the rest of the family. By modeling good nutrition & fitness, I’m leading my entire family to long lasting health. As goes mom, so goes the family…
