What I’m Reading in June and a Review of May’s Reading Selections

Last month I really stretched myself and read three book in addition to my Bible. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to finish them all by then end of the month but surprisingly I did.

In order to read three books last month I had to be intentional about carving out time to read. I found that I spent a lot of time waiting. I had about 30 minutes before my exercise class was to begin and an hour in the carpool line that I designated for reading time instead of chatting or blogging.

My Review of Last Months Reading

Grace Based Parenting is a book that I’d recommend for all Christian parents. Dr. Kimmel explains how grace is a much needed element in how we raise our children. He explains that our children will sin and never  live of to our standard of perfect children. In the book, Dr. Kimmel provides practical steps that show parents how to use their children’s shortcomings as our opportunity to show them the grace of God.

Don’t Make Me Come Up There!: Quiet Moments for Busy Moms is a book that I’d recommend to any mom who wants to know that you are not alone in your struggles as mom. The author Kristen Welch shares real experience in one to two page stories that help us see how imperfect we are as parents but how perfect God is in helping us raise our children.

How To Know God’s Will was the most life changing book I read in May. I’d recently gone through some changes in my life and business that left me wondering if I was really hearing God correctly. This book really provided concrete examples of how I could have more confidence in what I was hearing.

You can click on any of the book titles to read detailed summaries from the publishers or order the book from Amazon.
