It takes faith to do a lot of things. Now what type of things am I referring to, you may ask? Drive a car; ride on an airplane, take a test, write a book, and even buy a home and the list goes on and on.
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) says “Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
All throughout the Bible, it gives accounts of men and women who used their faith to get the job done. Now some of them may have needed a nudge or two or three, but the job got done. When my husband and I first got married we were living in an apartment. We lived there for at least a year.
My husband and I wanted to eventually buy a home, and we knew it was getting close when we started bumping into each other as soon as we turned a corner in our apartment. The first step we had to take if we wanted to see this goal and this dream come to pass, we first had to believe.
Having the God kind of faith requires that you believe the promise God gave you.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) says For verily I say unto you That whosover should say unto this mountain,Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass;he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you,What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
We “both” had to believe, not just one of us in order for everything to come together. There are things that can block blessings in your life, such as unforgiveness, hatred, strife, and bitterness. We had to make sure none of those things were in our heart. Both of us had to confess or speak out with confidence what we believed God for.
We had to make faith confessions every day that we knew without a shadow of a doubt that “the house was ours” .We already knew the house we desired, because we went house shopping almost every weekend, which I called “faith shopping”. Now, believe me obstacles (mountains) did try to get in the way.
While we worked with a realtor, a requirement was to have a credit check done. Our credit wasn’t the best but our realtor said it can be fixed. What we had to do was write letters to our debtors explaining why and how we allowed ourselves to get in that predicament and how we can set up payment plans to get out of it.
Believe me, some companies were not nice. In fact, they gave us a very hard time. While doing this we got a little discouraged, but we DID NOT lose our faith. It did take a minute for us to get our credit back to a decent score, because of our payment arrangements with the companies.
We were acting on we believed, while still confessing.
James 2:17-18 (KJV) says “Even so faith,if it hath not works,is dead, being alone.Yea a man may say,Thou hast faith, and I have works:shew me thy faith, without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith with my works.
In order to go further along with the steps to take to get this home, we had to use our faith by rebuilding our credit and getting out of debt, and that required work . My husband and I would listen to ministers that taught on faith constantly.
“So then faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17 (KJV).
We had to believe, confess, act and finally receive. My husband and I continued confessing , while meditating on the Word of God went to hear a minister in the area. The minister taught on receiving God’s best for your life based on 3 John 2 (KJV).
We sowed our seed (offering) because the man of God brought a Word from God that ministered to us greatly. Within the next month or so we received a call from the realtor and she said with great enthusiasm “YOU GOT THE HOUSE”!!!!!!!
We followed the formula of faith and received our home (our promise) in FAITH.
My husband and I rejoiced greatly. The faith formula has taught us to depend on GOD wholeheartedly.
