Proverbs Wife

My life is truly a struggle but you’d never know it because I am rejoicing in The Lord always. I struggle with overwhelming sadness, defeat and insecurities. The devil is always on my back trying to get me to give up, but God… But GOD y’all!!! He is always in my face like a football coach pushing and pressing me to live a greater life than I deserve. He is constantly calling me to more than I am capable of without Him. And despite my shortcomings, He takes all of my weakness and uses it to make Himself look good.

Rocks My World Tees

I can’t even put into words how excited I get about marriage when I see you all sharing my marriage quotes with your spouses on Facebook. It takes courage to publicly display how much you love your spouse but you guys seem to be full of courage when it comes to telling the world how much you love one another. I look for ways to help us celebrate biblical marriage on social media via the APW Facebook community and in our personal lives which is what spark the idea for the latest APW “Still Rocks My World” designs. I created styles for

4 items to always buy from Goodwill

I’ve been to the Goodwill twice this week and got my hands on some really nice things which I shared some sneak peeks of on Instagram and then in detail on my other blog Aprons and Stilletos.  When shopping at the Goodwill I always go with an open mind because I never know what I’ll find. I also go with an idea of items I want and need for my home and get very excited when I spot something that will fit the bill. This week I was especially looking for items in four specific categories. With the change of season having just occurred, many people are, like myself,

Build Your Man Up

Do you find it difficult to find the good in your husband? Does he no longer resemble that awesome man you once loved so deeply? I can recall very clearly a time when Germaine and I were drifting apart. Some of it had to do with us being a young family with four children and lots of responsibilities. However, some of it had to do with us as individuals and how we communicated with one another. The Bible tells us that “life and death are in the power of the tongue” and what that simply means is that you can

March Bible Reading Plan

Tomorrow is the start of  a new month and what better time to commit to reading your Bible daily? No matter what season of life you are in I want to help you be able to read at least one Bible verse a day. If you are too busy to read your Bible, you are far busier than God ever intended (Tweet This) The easiest way to build the habit of reading your Bible daily is to start small. Reading one verse per day is a great way to get in the word daily but in a way that won’t

6 Things a Wife Should Never Do

If there’s anything I’m good at besides being a wife it’s speaking my mind. If I’m asked for my thoughts I’m going to give them. Shoot, I’ll even give my $0.02 sometimes when I’m not asked. But the beauty of having this blog is that I get to freely dish out healthy doses of unsolicited advice about marriage. As you may know, I’ve been married to my sweet and wonderful husband going on 13 years and if I had it to do all over again I’d do it in a heart beat. Our marriage is just that amazing to me.

30-Days-of-Soul-Stirring-Prayers-for-Wives-and-Moms

If you receive the weekly exclusive edition of my newsletter then you already know that last week was rough mentally and spiritually. I won’t talk about it again since many of you already read about it, but I will say that prayer is a powerful thing. It will bring you clarity, answers and resolution if you allow God to work in you. I personally like to pray God’s word in a way that makes sense to even a child. I don’t get all preachy and use magnificent words. I just speak Gods words back to him in everyday language. This

Strawberry Vanilla Protein Milk Shake

I gave up eating ice cream in 2012 because I had a strong feeling it and a few other unhealthy food choices were holding me back from getting rid of the fat around my stomach. I was sick of wearing girdles, holding my stomach in and muffin top around my waistline. I’ve worked out off and on my entire adult life but couldn’t ditch the mommy pouch and I knew it had to be connected to my gallon of ice-cream a month habit. Giving up ice-cream was one of the hardest choices I ever made but I’ve recently found something

Are You Making a Difference

I wasn’t going to post anything today but changed my mind. This past Sunday and Monday were really tough for me which I’ll talk more about in a later post. I go through these mood swings where I just don’t want to be bothered with people. I’m naturally and introvert but God has been drawing me out of my comfort zone. I’m content to be in the background, inconspicuous and hidden behind the crowd but I don’t think that’s Gods plan for me. Sometime last year Ken Jumper who is our lead Pastor and founder of the Harvest Church asked if

Juicing-Recipe-Gala-Apple-Pick-Me-Up

If you have never created your own freshly squeezed juice, you are missing out. I’ve been juicing for going on three years now and love coming up with different juicing recipes. I usually grab whatever I have on hand and today that happened to be Gala apples, celery and tomato. The reason I call this a pick-me-up is because of the apples. Apples naturally boost your immune system, aid in digestion and also have a similar wake up effect as coffee. Apples contain fructose, a simple sugar that is delivered slowly throughout your system. While it won’t give you the

10 Ways to Avoid Arguments with Your Spouse

I grew up in a home where my parents argued and I’m guessing it’s the reason I thought arguing was normal during the first seven years of my marriage. I thought all married couples argued — shoot I’d seen some of them have arguments. After seven years of marriage having at least one argument a week was commonplace. I remember having an argument with my husband the first week we met which is why I never thought it was important for me to try and change. I was like that when he met me and I wasn’t going to change.

Is Your To-Do List Moving You Closer or Further Away from God?

Here’s some top secret 411. Each morning I start the day by asking God to order my steps. I’m the queen of to d0 list making and planning but over the years I’ve have learned how easy it is to get caught up doing busy work in lieu of HIS work. I don’t want to chase after goals and check off to do list unless they are absolutely in alignment with the plans God has for me. Because what’s the sense in having crossed everything off my to-do lists yet not be any closer to where God wants me to

If I don’t tell you anything else I want you to know why prayer and bible reading is so important. You will not be, feel or get closer to God without spending time reading your Bible and talking to God. Seriously…it just won’t happen. God can use a variety of ways to communicate with us because He’s God however, He has given us two undeniable means that will work every single time. God does not desire that our relationship with Him nor the way in which we communicate with Him to be a mystery. In fact, He wants it to

4 Ways to Improve Your Finances

4 Ways to Improve Your Finances 1. Make a decision to trust God completely with your finances. Until you can trust and do everything His word says about your money, you will most like always struggle with a lack of it. 2. How I Organize My Weekly Cash Budget

If you’ve been following my blog A Proverbs Wife here or on social media for at least a year, you already know my family’s personal goal regarding debt. One of the ways we have managed to organize our finances and pay off all of our debt except the mortgage has been by using a cash based system. A cash based system simply means, we pay cash for everything we can. Most of our bills are paid via mail or online, but there are several spending categories which we can pay using cash. In today’s video, you’ll learn how I manage

Carving Out Time for God

This is one of the most important acts of worship I do as a Christ follower. Carving out time for God is a deliberate act of worship that results in a marked difference in our character and behavior.
