A Wise Women Schedules Time for Rest

At some point you should make the first thing on you To-Do list:

GET SOME REST

Do you ever schedule rest for yourself? If not, you may be in danger of bringing more harm to your family than good. Lack of rest can cause irritation, depression and bitterness.

When we don’t get the rest that our mind, body and souls need we are not able to operate at our full potential. How many things have been left undone at the expense of trying to do it all without taking time to rest?

We make ourselves feel guilty if we take a nap in the middle of the day. We judge ourselves for resting instead of dusting or sweeping. There will always be some housekeeping that needs to be done. Your physical and spiritual health and well being is more important than your ability to stay busy.

We all remember the story of Mary and Martha….

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42

Busyness is not an indication of success as a homemaker. Learning how to balance between work and rest is a principle that is demonstrated by God from the beginning of time (Genesis 2:2-3). Begin to schedule rest into your week. Embrace the time when you are able to be still. No computers! No schooling! No homemaking! No busyness! You will emerge refreshed and ready to be your best self.

There Will Be No Inserts The 9/5 Sunday Newspaper

DO NOT purchase the newspaper this weekend if you purchase it solely for the coupons. Due the this being a holiday weekend there will be no inserts.

Use this time to purge your expired coupons and print off online coupons. There is a wide variety of online printable coupons at Coupons.com, and RedPlum.com.

1~ Look through the inserts Sunday by Sunday and begin clipping out only the coupons that are not expired.

2~ Make a pile for each insert.

3~ Keep each Sundays coupons together.

4~ On each pile place a sticky note with the name of the insert that the coupons came from and the date they were issued.

5~ Find an envelope and stick the unexpired coupons inside.

6~Place the envelope back into your accordion file in the appropriate section.

TIP: You can purge your Proctor & Gamble every month since 90% of the coupons in that insert expire after 30 days. Just clip out the few that haven’t expired.

On-The-Go Vegetable Drink

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a recipe so I want to tell you about one that is not only good for you but also good for your soil. This is recipe makes a high energy vegetable drink that’s great for a busy stay at home mom or hard working dad.

I make a fresh batch each week as part of my families weekly breakfast menu. It’s a easy way to ensure that my family is consuming the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables.

Ingredients:

(Makes 4 qts.)

14 Tomatoes
14 Carrots
7 Celery Stalks

Directions: (don’ forget to save the pulp for your compost bin)

1- Wash all veggies in cool water.

2- Snap all celery stalks and carrots in half.

3- Cut all tomatoes in half (just so they can fit down the juicer tube)

4- Use a large bowl to collect the juices and begin adding your veggies to the juicer.

5- For a sweeter flavor add some 100% fruit juice at this point.
For a more robust flavor add a few dashes of salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce.

6- Stir and refrigerate.

Serve cold and refrigerate up to 10 days.
