I wanted to share a neat idea that I picked up awhile ago. I created a useful homework center for the children to use during homework time. I added some things that I think they will use daily but will switch things out and add new things as the school year progresses. 
The pencils are tucked away in the little black box.
Now the children don’t have to waste time leaving the table to find supplies. They will all be right where they can reach them. I will be adding a small English dictionary, a thesaurus and a Spanish–English dictionary to this box from the Dollar Tree.
I would love to hear about some back to school tips and tricks that work for you and your family.
Pretty tricky, mom! Now if you just have a tip for them having to go to the bathroom every 30 seconds… LOL

Thank you! This is just what I need. Hubby and I were discussing how we could get a homework area set up with little space. Now I just need an I dea on how to separate kids so they can’t distract each other and baby sister can’t get into everything.

Great post! When my kids were younger I did the same for them. I used small plastic totes and filled them.

This is a great idea. I used to do this too when my older girls were in school. I also found that turning on some instrumental music (classical or light jazz, etc) helped them relax and settle into homework time.

I think this is a great idea! But I am a complete sucker for school/office supplies, and especially for kits where everything is in a box, so I was sure to love it.
I’m sure your kids will really appreciate it, and it will help them a lot with staying focused. Is there a pencil sharpener? That would also be a very useful thing to include.
