Blogging for Compassion | A Letter To God

Dear God,

Thank you for allowing our family to take care of Smohal. Everything that happened in the process of choosing her was divinely ordained. We are blessed and deeply honored to have been chosen by You to care for her financially.

Lord help us be faithful to this obligation for as long as You desire. And help us be sensitive to Your leading in sponsoring more children.

You know our hearts desire for those in need especially women and children. You’ve laid this passion for the hurting on our hearts and only You will be able to help us fulfill the what You are calling us to.

Thank you Lord for giving us the courage to sponsor a child despite all of our personal financial obligations. You know the  sacrifice it will take to send this money each month but we have faith that You are able to perform what ever You’ve called us to do.

We’ve put off sponsoring way too long because we thought we should be completely debt free first. But You know how my heart wouldn’t stop aching. And You know how my conscience would convict me every time I saw a hurting child.

“Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor?” Job 30:25

While it wasn’t clear at first if we should do both the sponsoring and debt freedom journey simultaneously, I went with my gut and it felt right as soon as we chose Smohal.

It was You that helped me take the step in faith this month and I’ll need Your help again every month until my faith is stronger.

You know our financially situation and how much we desire to be debt free, but I don’t want $38 toward our debt to be the thing that prevented one child from coming to know You.

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18

We are humbled that you’ve given use hearts for world missions and while we are not sure about how we will get there we do know that You are leading the way.

Give us faith for this journey. Help us to keep our eyes on You.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
