I am provided this review to possibly help you find a great tablet for your kids. I was not compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are 100% mine.
Are you in the market for a tablet under $100 for your children?
I just received the following Coby Kyros tablets in the mail.
- Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB Internet Tablet 16:9 Capacitive Multi-Touch Widescreen, Black MID7036-4 – NOW $83.99 WAS $149.99 (40% off)
- Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB Internet Tablet 16:9 Capacitive Multi-Touch Widescreen with Built-In Camera, Black MID7048-4 – NOW $91.88 WAS $179.99 (49% off)
I ordered these for the kids after reading through hundreds of reviews and comparing about 10 different tablets under $100 on several websites.
I have only had the Coby Kyros MID7036-4 a few hours but so far I am absolutely satisfied with it.
The difference between the Coby Kyros MID7036-4 and the Coby Kyros MID7048-4 is that the latter has a built in web cam and cost $7.89 more.

Features:
- 4 GB Flash Memory, 1 GB RAM Memory
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS
- 7″ LCD Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen
- 800 X 480 Resolution
- E- Book Reader
- High- Speed 1 GHZ Processor
- Wi-Fi 802.11 B/G/N
Pros:
- The tablet was easy to set up.
- It was ready to use after an hour of initial charging.
- Connecting to my wireless was simple. I went into settings, the tablet searched for networks, I entered my password, and was online.
- The first thing I noticed was how receptive the screen is to my touch commands. In the reviews I read about the even less expensive $75.00 Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB Internet Tablet 16:9 Resistive Touchscreen, Black MID7034-4 was that the screen was not very responsive to touch and needed a stylus. I have not experienced any problems with the capacitive versions.
- Next I checked out how videos streamed on YouTube. I was very happy with the results. My children like watching videos on YouTube so this was big for me.
- The videos show beautifully.
- The volume levels are perfect and there was no issues with buffering.
- The tablet comes with everything my kids for daily use but there are lots of apps available for them to customize their tablets. My oldest son may add the dictionary app, scientific calculator and some games. I will definitely set limit on the number of games they can have at any given time.
If you are looking for an inexpensive tablet under $100 the Coby Kyros is the best I’ve seen as far as reviews go.
As far as personal experience, I am pleased.
I will update you after the holidays if I find any cons about this tablet.
Finally, if you can afford the extra money I’d recommend taking a look at the following items as well however, they will not arrive by December 25th.
- 2-Year Tablet Accident Protection Plan (Below $100) – $19.99 (Great reviews!!)

- 3 Pack of Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen (Red + Black + Silver) – $1.15 Shipped!! (Was $30)
Thanks for the excellent review. We have been looking for tablets for our little ones that aren’t over priced. I will have to look into these.
